The Perfect Spring Dress You Need (Pronto!)

The minute I saw The Coach Tour Dress in Lavender from ModCloth, I knew I had to have it. It's basically the perfect dress for spring: comfortable, not too light of a fabric, and flattering with its gorgeous color and precise cut.

However, a sometimes down side...it's sleeveless. But, never fear...because this is literally the most versatile dress I currently own. I saw this as a styling challenge & started putting looks together with the Coach Tour Dress that everybody can love.

The first look I put together is definitely a more creative one. I layered a light green sweater from Old Navy (with my initial-A!) over the dress and took the collar and used it in lieu of a necklace. I also added some cute bird-print* wedges from Report and topped the outfit off with a flower in my hair! This look would be perfect for someone who wants to wear this dress as a skirt!

This second look is perfect for those bright, spring days when there's still a touch of chill in the air. I layered a polka dot chambray button-up over the dress (Old Navy), threw on some comfy kitten heels (Franco Sarto-thrifted), and a fedora (Old Navy). This is definitely my favorite look- I felt so effortlessly chic.

My third look is for those who prefer a more tailored or "office appropriate" look. But, that certainly doesn't mean your look can't be fun! I put on a flower-printed black blazer from Style & Co. (Macy's), black patent pumps from JCPenney, and polished it off with some pearls. Extra kudos if yours are real ;)

But of course, the dress will look fantastic on you without all the whistles & bells.

I hope you all had a fun, relaxing holiday weekend.  I'm looking forward to more sunshine and less school work as the semester winds down. :)

DIY Popsicle Wall Art

Northeastern Ohio went from almost 80 degrees to 30 in the matter of 24 hours this week. I was so excited by the warm weather and decided to create a do-it-yourself piece of wall art that will brighten up any gloomy day in April.

All you need is 3 different paint colors ( I have four because I blended red + light pink to make darker pink), some paint brushes,  & a piece of wood or canvas ( I used wood- $2.99).

The first thing I did was paint the whole thing green. I didn't do a second coat because I really like the 'weathered' look. For a more clean approach, use 2-3 coats.
Then, my boyfriend drew a freehand stencil for me using pencil. You can print out a stencil of a popsicle from literally anywhere, cut it out, and trace it onto your surface.
Last, I painted it, let it dry & voila!

PS- If you have ever seen this in Jessica Day's bedroom- you know exactly where I got my inspiration :)

My 23rd Birthday!

Yesterday was my 23rd birthday! It was 78 degrees all day and beautiful outside, that alone felt like a gift from mother nature (because I really hate winter). I spent my day with my family + boyfriend Josh and could not have asked for anything more than that, even though I received some reallllly awesome gifts from them. Thank you all again for your birthday wishes, I feel lucky and blessed to have such wonderful people in my life :)

Alright everyone, about this dress...one word: amazing. There are hot air balloons on my dress! Need I say more? The fit is spot on, the material is light but sturdy and it's super fun. I tried so many times to get it but it was always out of stock so when ModCloth was running a 20% off sale, it was IN STOCK in MY SIZE. I immediately bought it. No regrets.

Outfit Post + My Dream Came TRUE!

Hey there! So, this week was crazy hectic for me between tests, homework, a job interview, and scheduling for fall semester at Kent. I'm lookin' forward to relaxing this weekend because it's my 23rd birthday on Sunday!

What really made my entire life happened yesterday, when I bought tickets to go see Sir Paul McCartney. If you knew me in high school, you would understand why this is such a big deal for me. I was am obsessed with all of The Beatles (+their amazing solo careers). The concert is on July 7th, and I cannot WAIT. I'm totally going to be that girl...the screaming, crying fan reminiscent of the way fangirls acted when Paul was just a young Liverpool lad back in the 60s.

Sigh.

Moving on... Between the craziness this week, I got to stop into Torrid in the Southern Park Mall in Boardman to get a few spring essentials. I walked away with some pretty exciting pieces, and this denim shirt was one of them! It's SO versatile, you can layer it under and over things and I look forward to featuring it more here on the blog. If you haven't been to Torrid yet, go!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! xo.

Outfit Post: I'm Very Yellow + Are YOU a Colorphobe?

A year ago, I would have looked at this outfit and said "it's cute...but it's too loud to wear".
Well, I wore it. Applause.
SO many people are afraid of color, and I'm no longer one of them. I think the biggest reason why is because people would rather be unnoticed or are afraid of their body type (different topic, different post...coming soon).  Not everyone loves color. Understandable. I was at Target with my boyfriend recently, wearing the brightest cobalt blue tights ever with this same skirt. A lady walks past me with her friend and says I look terrible.
What do I say to that? That's okay! (But she's terribly rude. Being mean is NOT okay.) Not everyone needs to love my style. I don't seek compliments or stares. I am expressing myself through what I wear, and everyone else is free to do the same.

In fact, when I worked at JCPenney over this past summer, I would always encourage customers to stay away from wearing all neutrals, and they would just look at me with horror. After basically talking them into trying on something colorful, they'd come out with a half-pleased, half-scared expression immediately seeking my approval. COME ON! It's just simple, really....Don't be afraid to wear what you want and be who you want to be. We only get one life, so if you want to wear neon head-to-toe, DO IT. There is no such thing as "this color/style/pattern wouldn't look good on me".

PS- I'm wearing my FAVORITE glasses from Rivet & Sway. They have high quality frames & the most unique variety. Check them out, you'll love them! Also, Kristin Miles is the designer of my sweater (link below) & has had some clothes on ModCloth. Check her site out too- my fellow plus-sized girls will appreciate her clothes.

PSS- I do not get paid to give rave reviews about any designer/store/product. It is all based on my personal opinion + shopping addiction.

Give me Plaid.

Helloooo :) It was really nice for a couple days this past week, and I had to take advantage of the nice weather and do more outdoor outfit pics! I really enjoy nature and being outside, especially after this long winter of being cooped up inside because it was either a blizzard or it was below 0.
This week came and went in a flash. It's nearing the end of the semester and I'm honestly really happy because this one hasn't been the best for me.
I didn't have any creative classes OR fashion classes so I felt really uninspired by the work I am doing to get through these classes. I thought about retaking a writing class just to have a creative outlet. But, here we are....at the end. Phew. I'm wearing one of my favorite dresses and pair of flats, both from ModCloth. I really adore this dress because I really went out of my comfort zone with the plaid, but I've learned that it's really so versatile.

back into the swing of things

Hello there! I'm Angela!
Thank you so much for reading just that much because it means someone besides my mom is reading this. :) Anyways....About me: I am a 22 (23 in 11 days) year old glasses wearing, scooter driving, fashion student at Kent State University. I've always had such an admiration for those who blog and document their lives because now in the smartphone and twitter age, details tend to get lost over time. So with that being said, here I am. Blogging.

& Without further ado, my first outfit post!
P.S. I'm really awkward in front of a camera and I have chronic bitchface so smiling is basically the only thing I can do. Tips on getting rid of the bitchface are always welcome.
