Destination: WI- Part 2

Yesterday, we started off the day at Smith Bros, for some iced coffee + lunch. Best Iced Mocha Latte I've ever had to date. What is it with Milwaukee and awesome coffee?! Then, we visited St. Vinny's, where I thrifted some amazing shoes and a cute bag to carry around campus in the fall. It's hard to think of the impending doom that is going back for fall semester, but a cute red and black carryall makes it a bit better. After the excitement of thrifting, I coaxed my boyfriend to take my picture in a new park in Port Washington right when the fog was rolling in off of Lake Michigan. You guys, there are ice cream cones on my freaking dress. I felt cute all day.
Later on, we visited The Public Market downtown Milwaukee where I took shots of balsamic +olive oil (it must be an Italian thing...), and got dinner at Sobelman's where we were brave & tried their famous masterpiece bloody mary, complete with a mini slider on it. We left a little tipsy and decided to try our luck at the smoky Potowatomi Casino and my lucky self lost a whopping 4 dollars-haha.

I feel like I've been posting like mad on instagram today, but I don't hate it. Follow along here!

Destination: WI- Part 1

Happy Tuesday! I'm writing this post from little Port Washington, Wisconsin...which is the cutest town right on Lake Michigan. I have loved this place since I first visited here about 5 years ago. Always makes me want to up & leave Ohio because it's so scenic and unlike Youngstown, has sidewalks. Seriously, we don't have sidewalks where I'm from. WTF?
Anyways, the road trip here was pretty uneventful, besides the huge storm that we drove through as soon as we got in the thick of the traffic in Chicago. Oh, and by "we", I mean my boyfriend Josh & I, but you already know that if you follow me on instagram ;)
I'm seriously looking forward to the rest of our week here in WI and I'll be instagramming and updating as much as possible to capture & share all of the amazingness that is Port Washington and Milwaukee :)

Shut Up & Put a Bird on it

So I'm going to start this thing where I don't smile in every photo. Remember when I apologized/warned in my VERY FIRST BLOG POST EVER here about my bitchface? Let's just say I'm going to own it and work it and try not to look so mean when I'm not smiling.
This week, I am packing for a trip to Milwaukee! I'm really excited, it's beautiful and weird and just plain awesome there. I'm really trying not to pack my entire closet, but it's really hard when I'll be gone for an entire week. Any tips on avoiding overpacking?!
By the way, can I just say that I'm really super humbled and excited that I've made some blog buddies in my short time here on blogger? You gals rock :)
By the way, that awesome scar on my right leg is from a motorcycle. I was going to pose differently, but it kind of makes me seem like a badass motorcyclist and not a little Italian Vespa driver.
PS- My hair was still really wet here, but here's a little sneak peek into the helmet friendly hairstyles post I'm working on :)

The Anti-Pants Movement?

I don't know when it happened, but it just occured to me that I don't really wear pants that much anymore! My summer uniform last year was a pair of colorful crop pants with a button up shirt because I was grindin' away at work 40 hours a week. This summer, I've had all of my skirts and dresses on heavy rotation.
I've been fawning over these beauties from eshakti for some time now. They have a buy 2- get 1 free deal going on until midnight tonight. I think I might just go for it, because at about $60 a pop, you really can't go wrong. I've heard from other bloggers that eshakti's quality is unmatched. (Plus, they do custom styling + sizing for just $7.50!) I'm really loving the fun midriff-baring halter + skirt set, it would be perfect for a day on the boat!
I talked about my fear of walking in heels again in my post about summer goals, and I think I'm ready to do it again. Those super fun-kinda retro heels from ModCloth aren't out yet, but as soon as they are...I'm buying!
These Birkenstocks are also from ModCloth and even though their $119 price tag is a little steep for a college student, they have awesome reviews and also provide comfort and lots of foot support- and after a year of flats...I'm in need of some serious arch support.
Since I'm heading to Myrtle Beach in August for a week of fun, I really like the Salt Water Sandals in navy blue. I tend to pick footwear that is pretty neutral- and I've just adopted navy blue as a new neutral in my closet :)
Hope you all are having a joyous Tuesday!

This super talented girl painted her own prom dress! Kinda makes me wish I would've went to prom!

A Year of Awesome!

This post is just a little thank you to ModCloth for one year of plus size clothing, which also marks the year of the empty wallet for me ;)
It feels so good to be included in a community of ModLovers in every size!
Little by little, kind words and thoughts overtake the negative ones about ALL bodies. Sometimes we are our own worst critic, but it's hard to be when you're wearing an adorable birdcage printed dress.
Cheers to you, ModCloth<3

I'm All Black + Blue...

It has been insanely muggy lately...and if any of you have thick feel me. I'm not complaining though, I could do muggy over freezing any day.
A lot of people say black + blue in any combo is a fashion don't. I'm really starting to think that most of the style tips that folks have been listening to for years and years are lies. Straight lies. I might even dare to say that navy blue and black would look pretty amazing together.
But anyways, my glasses print top made a long work day a teeny bit better... And maybe the fact that this amazing maxi skirt is made of jersey material and feels like PJ's.

Pro Tip: Tie up your maxi skirt for a whole new look!
1. Gather the fabric according to the length you want it.
2. Tie it in a knot.
3. Tuck in your excess back into your knot and ta-da! Donezo.

The Bright Side To NEVER Doing Laundry

I'm back! Hi!
I have a confession: I hate doing laundry. Seriously. I hate it.
Some people are laundry people and some are dishes people...I am a dishes person, through and through.
But, the bright side to letting heaps of clothing accumulate in my hamper...or my bathroom floor..or my home office floor (ahem) is that my laziness has led me to the depths of my closet and makes me get kinda creative with what I'm wearing. Mixing and matching is a must for the lazy.
Oh hey jean jacket, I haven't seen you in ages.

Later on this week I'm going to DIY some awesome jean booties I scored at Goodwill and do a mini style tutorial on how to tie shirts to accentuate the waist!

I'm Coastal's New Style Ambassador!

Happy June!  Last week was a pretty interesting week...I got an e-mail from asking me to make a Style Ambassador Review Video. (Side note: If you don't know who they are, check them out. They have a huge selection of super cute eyewear!)  Of course, I was SUPER excited that I had been chosen to become a Style Ambassador for a wonderful company that has not only literally given me sight (haha), but also has helped over 300,000 people restore & protect their vision. BUT, I knew nothing about video editing!

Thanks to some really helpful peeps on YouTube, I was able to pull something together, and here it is!

I felt a little goofy in front of the camera for the first time, but I think I did okay. It actually kinda inspired me to do some research on maybe having a little web series in addition to my style blog- but I'm still tossing that idea around. What do you all think? Would you watch?

Thank you to all of the amazing people at Coastal who chose me, I am so excited to be a Style Ambassador!

P.S.- I'm picking out some new frames, so stay tuned to all of the fun Coastal + I are about to have :)
