Please Resume Puppy Pictures

Happy Monday- can you believe tomorrow is the first day of fall? What the whaaaaat?
But I love fall...and one of the reasons I love fall is because FALL FASHION! Who hasn't loved watching everyone's blurry/weird Fashion Week instagram videos in all zillion cities that have one now? I think it's one of those " had to be there" moments...Sorry, all my fashion people. Let's resume posting pics of our cute animals on the 'gram.

Today, if you haven't noticed, I don't really have anything specific to talk about here. But,
I am over on Lauren Blair's fashion blog talking about how I fell in love with fashion...It's really, truly an intriguing story if I do say so myself (and has nothing to do with the fact that I wrote it and it's about me).

Kidding, I'm not that annoying. But go on and head over to see her amazing style and shoe collection...because...girls got shoes. Like pumps in every color. I'm not kidding.

XOXO,
Angela

Vintage in the Woods

Two weekends ago, my family, Josh & I all took a little trip to Columbiana, OH where we went antiquing in the woods. The idea sounded just fine to me because I like to pretend I'm a nature person, but I was really surprised by how awesome it was. There were little huts and buildings literally in the woods set up and filled with all kind of vintage goodies. Some of it was covered up because of the rain, but I did get three pair of really adorable 60s era earrings that needed me.

In other news, I'm way behind on responding to comments and while I am trying to reply and say thank you, consider this a temporary huge thank you and hug for all of the nice things everyone said about my newly designed site <3

Sad news: I have to retire my Warby Parker frames...There is a weird film coming right off of the lens and the frames themselves seem to have some discoloring. I did e-mail them about it but didn't get a response, hmph.

6 Bike Must-Haves!

1. Helmet: Oh my gosh, I think I'm the only one who wears a helmet at Kent. Helmets are usually weird and often kind of...ugly. But not my Nutcase Helmet! I have a pink one with a retro design on it, but this polka dot number was a close second. College is expensive, protect your investment :)

2. Bike Lock. Some people happen to spend their spare time stealing bicycles. Lock it up.

3. Dutch Style Bicycles make wearing dresses on bikes doable. I really don't like flashing people, and a step-thru bike would make me feel a little less nervous about that. This 7 gear from PUBLIC is on my wishlist!

4. A cute bell.

5. A pretty dress, because obviously you're super adorable and you wear dresses on bikes. Plus, this one has apples on it!

6. Lotta From Stockholm Clogs! Comfy to walk in, definitely comfy to ride in. Great with socks & tights for fall, too :)

My #1 College Tip

For the past two weeks, I've been pretty MIA on here because I'm back at college. I have a pretty bad track record with college- it's a true love/hatehatehate relationship. Can I just say the BS that all college students go through is enough? Seriously, enough is enough with the bogus requirements (yes, I'm talking to you, 1.5 hour classical music lecture).

Don't get me wrong, I love my major. I love the fact that Kent has a fashion merchandising program that is rated 2nd best in the US next to FIT in NYC. It's incredible to be learning at such an accomplished university. This is only my second semester back at Kent, and I'm still ridding my brain of the nasty feelings I have for college.

I think what really turned me away from college was YSU and their two advisor who were also professors fashion merchandising program. The first fashion class I took there two years ago, I excitedly walked in and the very first thing the professor told us was, " I don't have a degree in fashion merchandising, and I've never worked retail". That shocked me in the worst way possible. I will be the first one to highly recommend against YSU's fashion program. Kent is only 30 minutes up the road, and it's nearly the same in tuition, too. Just to give you an idea of how fashion classes from YSU to Kent transfer...I took 4 at YSU. None of them transferred as core classes, because the syllabi were outdated and they all lacked depth. To say that I feel like I've been slighted is an understatement.

So, you've read my rant and I'm going to say this. If you're a senior in high school shopping for colleges, thinking of going back to college, or an adult first-time student, pick the one where professors care and education is #1 on their priority list. They will all have great things to say about all of their programs, but it's not always true. Do your homework, sit in on a class, meet with the advisors and professors. You will seriously thank yourself in the end.

At The Fair

The best part of the end of summer is the Canfield Fair here in northeastern OH. Growing up, it always signified the school days to come, but most of all, it meant a whole day of rides, fair food and getting pulled around with my sister in a bright red Radio Flyer wagon by mom and dad. (Well, mostly dad).

As I've gotten older and the rides became less interesting, the fair is still a special place that brings so many memories back for me. My favorite part of the fair is actually where these photos were taken, in a town constructed with real buildings from the 1800s. It's amazing to see the old doctor's office, train, and general store.

Family really is the most important thing in my life, and as of late I've learned who I can call family--and unfortunately, who I can't. One of my short and long term goals is to be a better family member- daughter, sister, niece, cousin. It's important to listen and be present in the moment, and that is one thing I'm working on. We're always a work in progress, huh?
